Chanell Jones, LCSW-C

Career Journey:

Chanell Jones is a passionate and dedicated professional in the field of Social Work. With over 15 years of experience in Human Services, she has made it her mission to create positive change in the lives of children, youth, and families. In 2020, Chanell earned her Masters of Social Work degree with a specialization in children, youth, and families from Morgan State University's School of Social Work. As a Title IV-E recipient, she gained invaluable insights during her internship as an Adult Services and Child Welfare Data Specialist at the Social Services Administration. This experience equipped her with a strong foundation in Macro Social Work decision-making, complementing her expertise in direct clinical practice.

Championing for Equity:

During her 7-year tenure at the Department of Social Services, Child Protective Services department, Chanell closely engaged with her community and identified gaps in the service system. She recognized the overrepresentation of black children in child welfare and the critical need for cultural competency in service provisions. These observations fueled her commitment to addressing these disparities and advocating for positive change.

Expertise and Advocacy:

Currently, Chanell serves as a Mental Health Therapist, Community Advocate, and Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical in Maryland. Her focus on urban and Black populations demonstrates her dedication to fostering wellness and empowerment within these communities. Furthermore, Chanell is the visionary CEO/Founder of Creative Wellness Solutions, LLC, a mental health and wellness agency that delivers culturally relevant services to individuals and families in urban communities.

Academic Achievements:

Chanell's academic journey is marked by excellence. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Applied Psychology from Coppin State University, a Masters of Science degree in Human Services Administration from The University of Baltimore, and her MSW from Morgan State University. Her scholarly pursuits extend beyond the classroom. She was the lead curator for the digital humanities research project "The #FreddieGraySyllabus: An Unexpected Case Study." This innovative project offers insights into contemporary resistance and historical research as tools for understanding societal challenges.

Community Empowerment:

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Chanell is a driving force behind community empowerment initiatives. She is the Co-Founder of Curves Rock, a dynamic lifestyle brand promoting positive body image and self-love among women. Her commitment to social change extends to the virtual realm through her creation of "Black Child Welfare," an informative platform dedicated to fostering cultural sensitivity in child welfare service provision and topics.
